It's no secret that streetwear has seen a surge in popularity in recent years. While the trend has its roots in skate and hip-hop culture, it has now been co-opted by the mainstream. From celebrities to social media influencers, everyone is wearing the latest streetwear brands. From your beloved K-POP hotties to the coolest Marvel stars - it’s EVERYWHERE.
But where did streetwear come from? And how did it become so popular?
The history of streetwear is long and complicated, but we'll try to give you a brief overview.

It’s a style of casual clothing that emerged in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It was originally associated with skateboarding, hip-hop, and punk subcultures. Ya know, the OG fashion icons (bEfOrE iT wAs CoOl).

Streetwear is characterised by oversized t-shirts, baggy jeans, and sneakers. It's often adorned with graphic designs and logos, and it's not uncommon to see streetwear brands collaborating with high-end designers. But, also as this sub-genre has become more popular the style evolved as well. Now, you’ll see people rocking prints that resemble the streets of Harajuku or the camp world of boy + girl bands. The only rule now? Be yourself through your clothes babe!
Street fashion emphasizes individuality and freedom, and is a trend pursued by the younger generation. This fashion style originates from urban culture, focusing on freedom and comfort, while incorporating elements of art and street culture into the outfit.

Dressing Tips:

  • Layered collocation: Multi-layered outfit is one of the classics of street style. Use jackets, sweatshirts, long-sleeves and other items to break the monotony and add a sense of hierarchy.
  • Statement Accessories: From wide-brimmed hats to pendant necklaces, statement accessories are an integral part of street style. They can add a lot of color to the overall look.
